Defense Verdict In Bronx County

On January 13, 2012, Terrence St. John received a defense verdict in Bronx County Supreme Court in a medical malpractice case against a major metropolitan hospital and doctor.

Plaintiff alleged that the defendant physicians and hospital were negligent in their treatment of plaintiff, specifically in failing to completely remove plaintiff’s placenta following the birth of her son.

The defense argued that the treatment was in accordance with accepted standards of obstetrical practice and the delivery was appropriately managed, and that retained placental tissue or other products of conception are recognized complications of an appropriately performed delivery, and that plaintiff suffered no injuries as a result of any alleged negligence.

The defense verdict was unanimous on behalf of our clients, and on behalf of a separately represented co-defendant physician.
