Defense Verdict in New York County
Luke M. Pittoni received a defense verdict in New York County Supreme Court on November 8, 2010 in a medical malpractice case brought against our clients, an interventional cardiologist and a major metropolitan area hospital.
Plaintiff alleged that defendants negligently performed a cardiac catheterization, causing a groin infection, a hematoma and pseudoaneurysm. The plaintiff required multiple surgeries followed by several months of IV antibiotics. They further claimed that because of the infection, the plaintiff required a mitral valve replacement.
Mr. Pittoni argued that the cardiac catheterization was properly performed and that the infection, hematoma and pseudoaneurysm was a risk of the procedure and not evidence of malpractice.
The jury returned a defense verdict as to both defendants.
