Laura S. Murphy Obtains a Unanimous Defense Verdict in Supreme Court, Kings County

On July 7, 2022, Laura S. Murphy obtained a defense verdict in Kings County Supreme Court in a podiatric surgery case. This case involved allegations of negligence against a podiatrist in the performance of osteotomies via minimal incision surgery to treat plaintiff’ s hallux limitus (a condition where movement of the big toe is restricted to varying degrees). Plaintiff claimed that our client improperly performed surgery and failed to provide proper post-operative instructions. Ms. Murphy and her team successfully established that our client’ s surgical technique fully comported with the standard of care, and the post-surgical instructions were appropriate. The jury issued a unanimous verdict finding that the surgery was correctly performed, and the care rendered did not cause or contribute to the plaintiff’ s claimed injuries.
